A second successive resounding mandate from
the Sri Lanka voter has heralded the second era under the Executive

political, social, economic cultural environmental and spiritual are

Minister of Water Supply & Drainage Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena cordially
invited, the chief guest of the Prefect Badge awarding ceremony 2010
of Buwanekaba Vidyalaya – Maharagama on 4th August 2010. Minister
of Western Provincial Council Mr. Upali Kodikara, Member of Provincial
Council Mr. Isuru Devappriya, Member of Provincial Council Mr. Hector
Betmage, Member of Urban Council – Maharagama Mr. Nishantha Wimalachandra
and Chairman of the President Public Coordination Mr. Wajira Irugalbandara
were present at this occasion.
A progress review meeting on the water supply project at Badulla and
Monaragala district in the Uva Province was held in Parliament recently
and the implementation of the peoject has been accelerated. The project
is implemented at Rs. 853 Million. The Ambagasdowa Water Supply Scheme
being constructed at Rs. 133 Million and is based on Bomuru Ella will
provide water for 15,000 people while the Mahiya Water Supply Scheme
being constructed at Rs. 189 Million and is based on Uma Oya will provide
water for 32,000 people. Those sub projects implemented under the main
Water Supply Project are in the Badulla District. Monaragala Water Supply
Scheme being executed at a cost of Rs. 154.8 Million and is based on
Monaragala Oya will provide water for 12,600 people while Badalkumbura
Water Supply Scheme now in progress at a cost of Rs.124.4 Million at
Borehole water resource will provide water for 22,000 people. The Wellawaya
Water Supply Scheme now in progress at a cost of Rs. 250 Million and
is based on Alikote Ella and Kirindioya will provide water for 7,000
people. These schemes are in the Monaragala district. The other Water
Supply Schemes to be implemented under the same project are Buttala,
Kiriibbanwewa, Aluthwela, Mutukandiya, Habbegamuwa, Haliela, Mahiyanganaya,
Bandarawela, Haputale, Diyatalawa, Atampitiya, Kandaketiya and Taldena.
Several Cabinet Ministers and MPs who represent the two Districts took
part in the meeting. Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Hon. Sumedha
Jayasena, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Hon. Jagath Pushpakumara,
Memebers of Parliament Uditha Lokubandara, Rohana Pushpakumara, Tenkuka
Widanagamage, Chamika Buddhika and Wijitha Berugoda were present at
this occasion.
Mr. Richard Vokes - Resident Mission Country Director of the Asian Development
Bank’s (ADB) Sri Lanka on behalf of the Public – Private
Partnership/Guarantee Mission for the Asian Development Bank (ADB) a
courtesy call made on Hon. Dinesh Gunawardena Minister of Water Supply
& Drainage at the Ministry on 28th July 2010. The Mission led by
Ms. Ma. Carmela D Locsin, Deputy Director General – South Asia
Department and Mr. Grant Hauber – Principal Private Sector Development
Specialist. The Chairman of Water Supply & Drainage Board Mr. Karunasena
Hettiarachchi and the Secretary of Ministry of Water Supply & Drainage
Mr.A. Abeygunasekera were present at this occasion.

Determination at "Kiriwehere" of the sacred city of
Katharagama
on 15th of Saturday September in 2007
This ceremony will be held every year
and continued for the 13th year with the participation of Minister
of Urban Development and Sacred Area Development
Mr. Dinesh Gunawardena.
Major theme of the ceremony is territorian
integrity of the country and blessings for the armed forces who protect
the mother land.
